Gutter cleaning in Bolton, Horwich and Westhoughton from the ground: high-reach vacuum systems clear leaves, moss and debris, downpipes are unblocked and the flow is checked, with no ladders against your walls.
Tell us your postcode in Bolton and the house type and we will come back to you the same day.
When leaves, moss and debris build up, water overflows and runs down the walls. Over time that causes damp, stained render and brickwork, rotten fascias and in the worst cases structural damage that costs far more than a clean.
We use high-reach vacuum systems to clear gutters from ground level. It is safer than ladders, quicker, and reaches over conservatories and extensions.
We inspect the gutters with a camera to find blockages, heavy moss and the condition of the downpipes before we start.
Powerful vacuum systems remove all leaves, moss, dirt and standing water from ground level.
Every downpipe is cleared so water flows freely away from the property.
We check the flow, clear anything that came down, and send you the photos.
Bolton sits under the West Pennine Moors and takes around 1,050mm of rain a year, considerably more on the higher ground towards Winter Hill.
Wind off the moor carries debris into gutters on the exposed properties at Egerton, Belmont, Smithills and the top of Horwich. Rain carries moss and tile grit down off the roof everywhere else.
The sheltered, wooded parts of Bromley Cross swap wind-blown material for months of leaf fall, which is no better for a gutter.
Leaves are usually a minority of it. The bulk is broken-down moss and fine grit worn off the tile surfaces, which forms a dense wet silt in the bottom of the run.
That silt is the reason hosing a gutter out does not work. It does not flush, it just relocates into the downpipe where it blocks in a narrower space.
Vacuuming removes it from the building rather than moving it around.
We clear gutters with a vacuum system on carbon poles, operated from the ground, up to about three storeys. Nothing rests on the guttering and nobody goes onto the roof.
That is partly safety and partly damage. A ladder leaned against plastic guttering is the single most common cause of the sagging and joint failure we see, and cast iron on the older stone properties north of town is no happier about it.
A camera on the pole records the gutter before and after. You get the footage.
It is the only way to verify work you physically cannot inspect, and it is standard on every job rather than something you have to ask for.
Downpipes are run through and checked at the bottom as well as the top. Older properties often have hoppers partway down that collect debris and block without any sign from ground level.
The gully at the base gets checked too. On sloping properties around Horwich and Smithills a blocked gully sends water across the ground towards the house rather than just pooling.
Water over the front edge streaks down the wall and puts damp into it. Water over the back edge gets behind the fascia and rots the board and rafter feet, which is a roofing repair rather than a cleaning one.
Ice in a blocked gutter splits plastic joints and pulls cast iron brackets out of stone. None of that is cheap, and all of it is avoidable.
Gutters, and the gaps behind them at the roof edge, are popular nesting spots. That creates a hard constraint on timing, because it is an offence to damage or destroy an active nest.
Nesting season runs roughly from March to August. If we find an active nest during that window the work on that section stops and we come back later, and we will not pretend otherwise to get the job finished.
It is one of the better arguments for doing gutters in autumn. The nests are done, the leaves are down, and you go into winter with everything running.
Annually for most Bolton properties. Twice a year if you are on the high ground, under trees, or your roof is carrying significant moss.
Where roof moss is the source, treating the roof is the permanent fix. See roof cleaning in Bolton.
Fixed price in writing before we start, footage included. Cheaper combined with the render or driveway.
Bolton sits under the West Pennine Moors and gets its share of rain. Moss off the roof and leaves from the trees around Queens Park, Moss Bank Park and the tree-lined streets of Heaton and Smithills fill the gutters through autumn and winter, and an overflowing gutter is the start of most damp problems.
We clear gutters from ground level with high-reach vacuum poles and a camera on the end, so we can see the blockage, clear it and send you before and after photos. No ladders leaning on your walls and we reach over extensions and conservatories.
From Horwich and Westhoughton to Farnworth, Little Lever and Bromley Cross, we cover the whole of Bolton. Every downpipe is checked and unblocked before we leave, and with 115 five-star Google reviews you know it is done properly.
Homes under mature trees, near Queens Park or up towards Smithills and Rivington, fill fastest. A clear after the autumn leaves and again in spring keeps the water flowing; for most other homes once a year is enough.
For the full method and pricing see our gutter cleaning service page. We also offer window cleaning and roof cleaning on the same visit, and commercial gutter cleaning for business premises.

Once a year is right for most homes. If you have trees nearby, twice a year (after autumn and after spring) keeps them clear.
